How the Army body fat calculator works

The current Army one-site tape test estimates body fat using your sex, weight (lb), and a single abdomen circumference measured at the navel (belly button). Age is used to determine the maximum allowable body fat standard for pass/fail.

Army one-site tape test explained

Measure your abdomen at the belly button with the tape level and snug (not tight), and record at the end of a normal exhale. For best accuracy, take multiple readings and use an average.

Army body fat standards by age group

Maximum allowable body fat standards are grouped by age: 17–20, 21–27, 28–39, and 40+. This calculator can compare your estimate to the standard for your band and show Pass/Fail.
